With the start of the NFL season, everybody is making their pick for who will win the Super Bowl. In this article, I rank all 32 teams from best to worst. I explain why each team is at their current ranking and mention their key players. Enjoy!

  1. San Francisco 49ers

Most people would say the Chiefs are the best team.  However, even though they are coming off back-to-back Super Bowls, I think the 49ers are still a better team than them right now.  While Brock Purdy isn’t a top 10 quarterback, the 49ers have one of the best surrounding offenses of all time with key players being Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle.  Their defense is also one of the best in the NFL with key players being Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Charvarius Ward, Javon Hargrave, Talanoa Hufanga, and Dre Greenlaw.  The 49ers made it to the Super Bowl last year and I see them winning this year due to the improvement all of these players will have.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

While almost everyone thinks the Chiefs are the best team, I think they are the second.  Patrick Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the NFL but I think Travis Kelce will slowly decline.  George Kittle is more valuable than Travis Kelce in my opinion.  I don’t even think the current Chiefs team will make the Super Bowl.  Unless Xavier Worthy or one of the other young receivers step up, it will be hard for Mahomes to rely on Kelce this year.  If Kelce plays like I think he will, the Chiefs might not even be a top 5 team next year.

3. Baltimore Ravens

While the Raven did fumble in the playoffs last year, I think they will be way better with Derrick Henry.  If Mark Andrews plays every game and Zay Flowers continues to develop, Lamar Jackson will be in a good scenario to at least make it to the Super Bowl.  The defense is very good and I believe Kyle Hamilton will continue to improve and be maybe the best safety in the NFL.  Key defensive players like Roquan Smith and Justin Madubuike will stop quarterbacks like Mahomes and Allen from scrambling a lot.  Marlong Humphrey is also a great cornerback to have to shut down the top receivers like Ja’marr Chase.  That is why I believe the Ravens are a top 3 team and very legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

4. Cincinnati Bengals

A lot of people are putting the Bengals too low.  With Joe Burrow and Ja’marr Chase back on the field together, I think this team has a good chance of making the Super Bowl.  The two years Burrow and Chase have been together, they made the Conference Championship both years and then made it to the Super Bowl one of those years.  This is one of the best duos in the NFL.  Not to mention, the Bengals still have Tee Higgins, who has potential to be a top 20 receiver.  This is by far one of the best offenses and has proven to be almost unbeatable in big games.  Defensively, the Bengals still have Trey Hendrickson as well as Geno Stone and Logan Wilson.  While it’s not a great defense, the offense completely makes up for it.  The Bengals are clear contenders and a top 5 NFL team.

5. Detroit Lions

The Lions are a perfect borderline top 5 team.  They made it to the NFC championship last year and would have made it to the Super Bowl if they hadn’t choked in the second half.  They were winning 24-7 at halftime but played like they were down 20 the whole game.  However, this year their lineup is still great and they look to be the best team to contend with the 49ers in the NFC.  Amon Ra St. Brown has proven to be a top 5-7 wide receiver and Jared Goff is a top 10 quarterback.  Sam LaPorta also had a huge rookie season and is a clear top 5 tight end going into this season.  Their other rookie Jahmyr Gibbs looks like a top 5 running back as well.  This offense is rounded out with one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.  They have Penei Sewell, Frank Ragnow, Kevin Zeitler, Taylor Decker, and Graham Glasgow leading the charge. The defense is also looking pretty good.  Aiden Hutchinson is developing very well and after having a pro bowl season last year, he could be one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL this year.  They also have another great defensive linemen in D.J. Reader and a top strong safety in Brian Branch.  This team is a real contender this year and is easily a top 5 team in the NFL.

6. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles lineup is amazing this year.  The offense is the same except Kelce retired and Saquon joined.  The defense has so many players from the 2022 Super Bowl season such as Darius Slay, CJ Cardener Johnson, and Brandon Graham.  However, the main reason the Eagles are a top team is because of their offense.  Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Lane Johnson, and Jordan Mailata are all above average or elite at their position.  This leads to less mismatches when going against the best defenses.  This offense is so well rounded that it’s hard to put the Eagles any lower than number six.

7. Buffalo Bills

This team will always be a contender with Josh Allen.  Even after losing Stefon Diggs, I still think the Bills are a top team in the AFC and have the potential to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs.  James Cook and Dalton Kincaid have a lot of potential to be great and are key pieces to the offense.  The defense still has Matt Milano, Greg Rousseau, Von Miller, Taron Johnson, Raul Douglas, Dion Dawkins, and Ed Oliver.  Not to mention the fact that Stefon Diggs had a drop-off year last year and the Bills did just as good.  Josh Allen is so talented and is able to create plays so well that the Bills are still a top 10 team in the NFL without a great surrounding offense.

8. Houston Texans

This is surprising to many people as most people think they will be better than the Bills.  They took Stefon Diggs and CJ Stroud looks like the next elite quarterback.  Tank Dell and Nico Collins are an amazing fit for the team and Joe Mixon should also fit in perfectly with this offense.  However, the defense is very average, and while the offense should work, we don’t know.  That is why the Texans are not higher up.  Considering this, they are still a top 10 team.

9. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins should not be this high.  They are inconsistent and Tua hasn’t even won a playoff game yet.  That alone is crazy considering the fact that he throws to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.  Every year it seems like the Dolphins are going to be great, just for them to have an average season.  Although I disagree with the average person who will always look at the Dolphins as a possible contender, I do agree that this year they will at least make it to the second round.  Tua isn’t a great quarterback but he’s not so bad to the point where he can’t adjust to playing with Tyreek Hill.  Last year Tua did a great job getting the ball to him, but also had 14 interceptions, a career high.  As long as he doesn’t throw hail mary’s on 1st down anymore, the Dolphins should be way better.  Lack of intelligence is holding them back right now.  That is why going into this season, they are a top 10 team.

10. Dallas Cowboys

In the regular season, the 49ers and Cowboys are the hardest teams to play against.  In the postseason, the Buccaneers and Packers are bigger threats than the Cowboys.  It is impossible to determine why the Cowboys are so bad in the playoffs.  Dak Prescott seems like a top 5 quarterback every regular season.  In the playoffs, he plays like an amateur.  In his five playoff appearances, he has two wins.  His regular season record in those years was 12-5, 12-5, 12-5, 10-6, and 13-3.  That shows the difference from the regular season and the playoffs.  Their playoff performance is all anyone thinks about when talking about the Cowboys.  Unless they start to perform better in the big moments, this ranking will only go down.

11. Green Bay Packers

This franchise keeps winning.  After upsetting the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs, Jordan Love showed that he is capable of being a top 10 quarterback.  With Josh Jacobs now on the team and Romeo Doubs continuing to improve, the Packers are only going up.  The defense is still good with Jaire Alexander and Kenny Klark being key pieces.  I think the Packers should be a five or six seed considering that the Lions are still by far the best team in the NFC North.  However, if the Cowboys have a bad season, they could get the five seed where they would be playing most likely the Buccaneers or Falcons.  The Packers have a good chance of making the Divisional Round of the playoffs which would be great.  There is so much potential that it is hard to put the Packers anywhere out of the top 15.

12. New York Jets

This will be an interesting year for the Jets.  As long as Aaron Rodgers stays healthy, it will be the first time the Jets have had a good quarterback since Brett Favre in 2008.  Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have shown that they can both be top 10 at their position.  Mike Williams was also a great addition.  The offense is in the clear top half of teams.  Going to the defense, it is amazing.  Sauce Gardner, while overrated, is still a top 5 cornerback.  Pairing him with D.J. Reed Jr creates one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL.  Quarterbacks are going to have a tough time trying to throw to anyone considering that CJ Mosley is in the middle of the field, ready to lock up the tight ends and stop runs.  When you look at the defensive line, it might be the best part of the time.  Haasan Reddick is a scary pass rusher and Quinnen Williams makes it very difficult to run the ball up the middle.  Quincy Williams and Jermaine Johnson II will also be ready to rush the quarterback and stop runs.  With all this said, they still aren’t a top 10 team but at least they are a bottom 10 team like they have been for the past decade.

13. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are a hard team to rank.  Aaron Donald just retired and we didn’t really see Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp play together last year.  They could be 5-12 or 12-5.  It’s just hard to tell if the offense will be the same as it was three years ago or if it won’t work anymore.  Matthew Stafford isn’t an elite quarterback and I don’t even think Cooper Kupp is an elite receiver.  They just worked so well together during their Super Bowl season that it made them both look very good.  With Puka Nacua on the rise, I think he might be easier to target than Kupp.  This offense is clearly good, we just don’t know how good.  Defensively, they are pretty average with their key players being Tre’Davious White and Darious Williams.  I think the Rams will be a good team but not at all a contender.

14. Cleveland Browns

The Browns are the first average team on this list.  They have less than a 1% chance of winning the Super and only have a few good players.  Offensively, I do think Deshaun Watson will still be an average quarterback.  The Browns also have great surrounding pieces in Amari Cooper, David Njoku, and Nick Chubb.  On defense, they have one of the best pass rushers in Myles Garrett and another great run stopper in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.  They also have a pretty good cornerback duo in Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome II.  However, even with this talent they aren’t even in the same league as teams like the Bills or the Bengals.  That is why they aren’t higher on this list.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This team is completely reliant on Baker Mayfield.  That usually never works but he did have a great postseason last year.  Even with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the team, Baker Mayfield was even able to get Cade Otton and even Trey Palmer involved.  This offense is very average overall but still has the potential to win games.  Defensively, they are also very average with Antoine Winfield Jr and Lavonte David being the two best players.  I see this team winning the NFC South again this year with a 9-8 or 10-6 record, but losing in the first round of the playoffs.  That is why I have this team at number 15.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars

This team is contending for the seven seed at best.  Their offense is average with Trevor Lawrence at quarterback.  Gabe Davis and Evan Engram are pretty good pass catchers and Travis Ettiene Jr is a great running back to have.  However, their defense right now isn’t looking so great.  Besides Josh Allen and Foyesade Oluokun, there is nobody close to pro bowl level.  Realistically, they would have to do better than the Jets to make it to the playoffs.  Even in one of the worst divisions in the NFL, they still aren’t guaranteed to beat any other team in their division.  That is why I can’t put them into the top 15.  They have talent, but not enough to really be a good team.

17. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts season depends on Anthony Richardson and Jonathon Taylor.  If Jonathon Taylor goes back to being a superstar running back and Anthony Richardson plays even better than he did before he got injured last season, this team could be scary.  Michael Pittman Jr is a great receiver but I think this is the season he becomes a borderline superstar.  I think this offense is going to be surprisingly good.  Defensively, they aren’t great right now but could improve.  While this team isn’t above average, they have so much potential that I think they will be contenders in the next few years.  However, these power rankings are based on how good they are right now, so that is why they are at number 17.

18. Chicago Bears

This ranking completely depends on Caleb Williams.  I think he will be a top 20 quarterback and with Keenan Allen and DJ Moore surrounding him, he should be able to succeed.  However, if Caleb Williams has a bad season, the Bears could be the worst team.  If he has a great season, they could be a contender.  It completely depends on him.  I think the Bears had one of the best offseasons in the NFL picking up not only Keenan Allen but also D’Andre Swift.  They are doing everything possible to help Williams.  My ranking may be too high or low, but I believe this is the right spot.

19. Los Angeles Chargers

Very rarely do you see a team with an elite quarterback not be a playoff team.  That is the Chargers.  After losing so many stars, Justin Herbert went from throwing to Keenan Allen and Mike Williams to throwing to Josh Palmer.  The surrounding offense is so atrocious.  The Chargers even lost Austin Ekeler, who was one of the best receiving running backs in the NFL.  The defense is ok with Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, and Derwin James.  It doesn’t really matter that much though because of how bad the offense is.  Because of Herbert, they stay in the top 20.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers

Everybody already knows what the Steelers record will be.  Unless they tie, their record will be 9-8 or 10-7 if they’re lucky.  Their talent decreases every year, but Mike Tomlin gets better.  The Steelers are in some weird situations right now with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson fighting for the starting quarterback spot.  I think Justin Fields is the better pick right now in my opinion.   I think him and George Pickens would be such a fun duo to watch.  Pat Freirmuth will also make some improvement.  The offense is clearly not good at all.  However, the defense is another story.  They have T.J. Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alex Highsmith, and Cameron Heyward.  With all this talent on defense, the offense is just so bad.  To win, scoring a lot of points is crucial.  That will not happen with this offense.   The amount of turnovers that will happen is crazy.  With all that said, they are in the 20 spot and will not have a losing season.

21. Atlanta Falcons

After drafting Michael Penix Jr with the 8th pick in the draft, the Falcons showed why they haven’t been good in almost 10 years.  They also did this after signing Kirk Cousins to a 4 year $180 million contract.  This is all for a quarterback who is 36 years old and not top 10 at his position.  Kirk Cousins wasn’t a top 10 quarterback with Justin Jefferson next to him, now he has to rely on Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson to help him offensively.  This is just a bad offense.  The defense is slightly better with players like Jessie Bates III and A.J. Terrell.  I just don’t see this team being good so I can’t put them higher than 21.

22. Seattle Seahawks

The Geno Smith hype is long gone.  He was good for his first year starting, but now the Seahawks are just a random team.  Jaxon Smith-Njigba is definitely not a future pro-bowl receiver.  D.K. Metcalf is still above average but Tyler Lockett is not the same as he was a few years ago.  Kenneth Walker II also doesn’t really make that big of an impact.  The offense isn’t bad but it’s not that great either.  The defense on the other hand, is atrocious.  Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon are already the two best players even as young as they are.  The run defense is horrible.  Considering they are in the same division as the 49ers, they are not stopping Christian McCaffrey.  The defense is what brings the Seahawks from an average to a below average team.

23. Arizona Cardinals

This team will shock a lot of people.  Many people think they will be a four or five win team.  I see them going 7-10.  Kyler Murray will take a big leap this season as a quarterback and prove why he still deserves to be a starter.  Trey McBride had a great year last year, and drafting Marvin Harrison Jr was perfect.  This offense may not be good right now, but there's just so much potential.  Defensively, they are definitely pretty bad, with Budda Baker being their only good defender.  I believe in this team but currently, it’s impossible to say they are even average.

24. Minnesota Vikings

Justin Jefferson is pretty much carrying this team.  T.J. Hockenson and Aaron Jones are also great surrounding options, but nothing like Jefferson.  With that said, Sam Darnold is still the quarterback.  He is probably worse than 50% of backups.  Jefferson will definitely make him look better.  Completions become so much easier with someone like him.  He is just so unstoppable.  Defensively, this team doesn’t have anybody that is really special.  I see this team going 5-12 or 6-11.  Without Jefferson, this would be the worst team in the league.  It’s very rare to see arguably the best wide receiver in football on such a bad team.  However, that is the case with the Vikings.  They simply are not a top 20 team.

25. New Orleans Saints

The Saints just keep getting worse.  Derek Carr proved he is not capable of being a starting quarterback anymore.  Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara are the only legitimate above average players on the offense.  I see rookie Spencer Rattler becoming the starter by the end of the year.  This offense right now just has no chance to be good.  With that being said, the defense is actually not that bad.  Tyrann Mathieu, Demario Davis, Marson Lattimore, and Cameron Jordan are all great players.  Offense is just so much more important that it almost takes away from the defense.  That’s why I can’t put this team any higher.

26. Las Vegas Raiders

Both the offense and defense have one star.  The offense is carried completely by Davante Adams, who would still be considered one of the best receivers if he wasn’t on the Raiders.  Defensively, Maxx Crosby is just so much better than everybody else.  He was a candidate for DPOY, which shows just how good he is.  The Raiders defensive line is actually pretty good when you consider that they also have Christian Wilkins.  But overall, both the offense and defense are terrible.  If the team didn’t have Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby, they would be the worst team in the NFL.

27. Washington Commanders

This team is the best trash team in the NFL.  They have Terry McLauring and Austin Ekeler on offense which is actually not bad.  I think getting Austin Ekeler was a pretty smart move.  I see Jaden McDaniels being pretty good but he needs time to develop.  This team is bad right now, but has potential.  Defensively, Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne are the two best players.  This makes their defensive line pretty scary to go against.  I see the Commanders having 4-5 wins this year but possibly getting close to 7-8 next year.  The offense just needs to develop.  For that reason, I’m putting the Commanders and 27.

28. New York Giants

The Giants are towards the bottom of the power rankings once again.  However, they aren’t as low as they were at the end of last season.  I think drafting Malik Nabers was such a great move after having years of bad drafting.  Even though they lost Saquon, Nabers could end up being more valuable in the future.  They also have one of the best defensive linemen in Dexter Lawrence.  The team just lacks overall talent.  They’re easy to score against and easy to stop.  They need to eventually draft a new quarterback in the future.  Malik Nabers has potential, but if Daniel Jones doesn’t step it up, it won’t matter.  Right now, the Giants are a horrible team.

29. Tennessee Titans

The Titans are so interesting.  Over the past few years, they went from a playoff team to one of the worst teams in the NFL.  Ryan Tannehill isn’t good anymore and they lost Derrick Henry.  After acquiring Tony Pollard, the offense is pretty much just him and DeAndre Hopkins.  Calvin Ridley is getting old and so is Hopkins.  The team has no potential.  I don’t see how Will Levis will ever become a good NFL quarterback.  The Titans need to make big changes if they want to become the team they once were.  I just don’t see a bright future for the next few years and I think they will stay this low in the power rankings for a while.

30. Carolina Panthers

After being the worst team last year, I see a similar outcome this year.  While Bryce Young should improve, he is not a good quarterback and will not become a good quarterback.  Dionte Johnson, Adam Thielen, and Chubba Hubbard are also not the ideal surrounding pieces on offense.  I don’t see how this team scores more than 15 points on 80% of defenses.  They are just so bad.  The defense is still not good, but not as bad as the offense.  Jaycee Horn is not a bad cornerback to have, and the defensive line isn’t the worst either.  The team overall is just so bad, and I see Bryce Young being a backup in a few years.

31. Denver Broncos

The quarterback situation with this team is so pathetic.  Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson, and Bo Nix were all fighting to become the starter.  Somehow, Bo Nix got the starting spot.  I don’t disagree with the pick considering how he was in training camp.  It’s just crazy that he is not even a top 10 pick, and is the first Broncos rookie quarterback to start week one since John Elway in 1983.  That shows how little competition there is in Denver to be a starting quarterback.  Now Bo Nix is going to rely on Courtland Sutton and Josh Reynolds.  The one interesting thing about this team is that while they are so bad, they have the best cornerback in the league in Patrick Surtain II.  He is such a great player on such a bad team.  I see the Broncos possibly trading down a couple spots and taking Quinn Ewers or Carson Beck in the draft next year if Bo Nix doesn’t do well.

32. New England Patriots

This is the team that is not only the worst team in the league, but the team with the worst future.  Their starting quarterback is Jacoby Brissett, a player who considered retiring before signing with the Patriots.  I don’t see him playing after this year so Drake Maye should become the starter.  Demario Douglas and Rhamondre Stevenson are the best offensive players on the team.  That is how bad they are.  The defense is a little better considering they have Mathew Juddon.  This team doesn’t need to get a defender with the first pick in the draft.  They should trade their pick and possibly get a good receiver or quarterback.  This team needs to make a change because they’ve been getting worse every year since Tom Brady left.  This is the clear worst team in the NFL.
